Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Westeros Within mobile application (the "App") handles information. Please read it carefully. By downloading or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
In short: The App has no user accounts and does not collect, store, or share any personal information about you. Everything you create or change in the App stays on your device. We do not track you, and we do not use analytics or advertising.
1. Who We Are
The App is provided by Westeros Within ("we," "us," or "our"). It is a companion to the "Westeros Within" YouTube channel.

About the App. Westeros Within is an independent, fan-made companion for epic fantasy book lore. It offers original commentary, summaries, and lore discussion, uses original artwork created for the App, and links to the channel's own YouTube videos. All third-party trademarks and copyrights belong to their respective owners.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We designed the App to work without collecting your personal data. Specifically:
- No accounts. There is no login, registration, or user profile.
- No personal data collection. We do not ask for or gather your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or similar information.
- No provider server. We do not operate a server that stores your personal data. Nothing you do in the App is uploaded to us.
- No tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or advertising SDKs. The App contains no third-party analytics tools, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers.
- No location, camera, microphone, or contacts access.
Consistent with the above, the App's privacy information on the App Store is labeled "Data Not Collected," and its privacy manifest declares that the App does not track (tracking is set to false) with an empty list of collected data.
3. Information Stored Only on Your Device
The App lets you personalize your experience and keep track of your reading. All of this information is stored only on your device, in standard local storage such as app preferences, a shared app-group container, and a local file, and is never transmitted to us. This on-device data may include:
- Reading progress and position;
- Bookmarks, highlights, and notes you create;
- App preferences and settings (for example, theme, reading mode, and sleep-timer choices); and
- A local flag indicating whether a "Westeros Within Plus" subscription is currently active (see Section 6).
Because this data lives on your device, you remain in control of it. You can change or remove it within the App, and it is deleted when you delete the App. We cannot access, retrieve, or recover this on-device data.
4. Content Downloads and Hosting Logs
The App downloads lore text, JSON data, and images from our website, https://westeroswithin.com, which is served as static content through Cloudflare. When your device requests this content over the internet, the hosting infrastructure may automatically record standard technical server-access information (such as an IP address, the requested file, the date and time, and general device/browser information). This kind of logging is a normal function of virtually all web hosting and is handled at the server/hosting level. We do not use this information to identify you or to build a profile about you, and it is not linked to any account (there are none).

5. Third-Party Services
The App interacts with a small number of third-party services to function. When you use those features, the relevant third party's own privacy policy governs its handling of your information. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of these third parties.
a) Apple, App Store and Purchases
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and all purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Apple handles all billing. See Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ (see also Section 6).
b) YouTube / Google, Video Playback
The App plays videos through an embedded YouTube player, and video thumbnail images are loaded from YouTube (i.ytimg.com). YouTube is provided by Google. When you play a video or when thumbnails load, YouTube/Google may collect information in accordance with their own terms and policies. c) Cloudflare, Content Hosting

6. Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers an optional auto-renewable subscription called "Westeros Within Plus." The core lore content is available without subscribing; the subscription unlocks cosmetic and convenience features only (such as app color themes, alternate app icons, collector home-screen widgets, unlimited bookmarks, highlights, and notes, a candlelight reading mode, a sleep timer, note export, the Patron's Seal and bookplate cosmetics, and Codex Trails).
- Options: A single subscription group with a Monthly option (US$1.99) and a Yearly option (US$5.99). Prices are localized and may vary by region.
- No free trial.
- Billing by Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same price and period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
- Restore Purchases. The App provides a "Restore Purchases" option so you can restore an active subscription on your devices.
- We never receive your payment details. All billing is handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your card number or other payment/financial information. Within the App, subscription status is reflected only by a local on-device flag (see Section 3).

7. Device Permissions
The App may ask for the following permissions. Each is used only for the stated purpose, and you can grant or deny them in your device settings:
- Photo Library (add-only): Requested only if you choose to save a wallpaper image to your photo library. This is "add-only" access, the App uses it solely to save an image you explicitly select and cannot read or browse your existing photos.
- Background Audio: Used so that narration audio can continue playing when the App is in the background.
The App does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, or contacts, and it does not request tracking permission. The App does not currently use local notifications.
8. No Tracking, No Advertising, No Analytics
We do not track you, in the App or across other apps and websites. The App contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, and no third-party trackers. We do not sell or "share" personal information, and, because we do not collect personal information in the first place, we have no personal information to sell or share.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). It contains fantasy themes with mild, non-graphic violence. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect any from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@cryptolive.blog; note, however, that data you create in the App is stored only on your device and is not accessible to us.
10. Data Security
We take a privacy-by-design approach: the most effective protection for your information is that we do not collect it. The personalization data you create is stored on your device and is protected by your device's own security features (such as your passcode and the operating system's protections). Content is downloaded over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Please remember that no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and the third-party services described in this Policy maintain their own security practices.
11. International Users
The App is available in various regions. The App itself does not send your personal data to us. However, the third-party services described above (Apple, YouTube/Google, and Cloudflare) may process information, including standard technical data, on servers located in countries other than your own. Those transfers and processing activities are governed by the respective third parties' own privacy policies. By using the App, you understand that content delivery and the third-party services it relies on may operate internationally.
12. Your Choices and Controls
Even though we do not collect your personal information, you remain in control of the data stored on your device:
- Edit or delete your content (bookmarks, highlights, notes, progress, and preferences) within the App at any time.
- Delete the App to remove all of its on-device data from your device.
- Manage permissions (such as Photo Library access) in your device settings.
- Manage your subscription in your App Store account settings.
For information handled by third parties, please refer to and exercise your rights through their respective services and privacy policies (Apple, Google/YouTube, and Cloudflare).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example, to reflect changes to the App or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy and post the updated version. Material changes will be made available through the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect constitutes your acknowledgment of the revised Policy.
14. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory local law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation where applicable, provides otherwise.
